About Firebird

Firebird is an International Business School based in Coimbatore and is the brainchild of Shiva Texyarn Ltd & Bannari Amman Spinning mills Ltd which makes a turnover of Rs.2000 crore. For the group, Education is passion ! Sculpting a student’s life and moulding them to be industry ready is the motto.

We are a unique business school trying to bring visibility for the students from the classroom to corporate practices. In this regard, we have an industryready tailor made curriculum with Personality Enhancement Program and Action Learning Program intertwined into the academic. We are a stand alone, AICTE, Govt. of INDIA, approved Business School in Coimbatore having an award winning campus.

As an Industry supported B-School, we have few programs to bridge the gap between UG industry and PG industry practices. Towards this, we are organizing one day National Level FDP on “Action Learning Agility through Case Study Methodology” for Undergraduates and a few selected Postgraduate professors to encourage them to use Action Learning and Case Methodologies in teaching their students and also to connect them to corporate practices.

Objective & Theme of FDP

As per New Education Policy and the global industry norms, the degree courses are going to be four years where Action and Experiential Learning is important. This change will demand UG Faculty members to have a strong network in the industry, addressing interdisciplinary electives and project work competencies. All the above requires activity based learning, a Case study method of teaching to fill the gap and enrich the overall four year degree programmes.

Some of the important areas which will be focused in the FDP are from the model curriculum of AICTE recommendations, such as smart skill sets of communication, entrepreneurial mindset, industry collaborative efforts, integration of multi disciplinary electives and technology adoption.

The teaching and learning is holistic value creation process where in the participants need to remember and understand large complex issues. While understanding the issues, the learned principles need to be applied and analyzed to evaluate the best alternative options to create a value and productive based learning.

The program has been designed to create a platform where National and International level Directors, Deans and industry Leaders will share their rich knowledge to facilitate the pedagogy of Action Learning Program to produce industry ready and deployable manpower.

Process

The program would start with an inaugural function and panel discussions followed by specialization area of action learning & case study programs. The best three participants of each specialization will be awarded with gold, silver, bronze mementos and certificates for all participants at the valedictory function by most eminent personalities of education & corporate world.

Outcome

The participants will learn the followings:

To develop action learning environment by using case method of teaching in Management, Social Sciences and Engineering.
To orient students for proactive learning with cases.
To explore and plan for case based courses.
To become aware of background preparation required to become successful case study mentors.
To select from alternative approaches to the case teaching.
To assess & evaluate students through the cases; be encouraged to write their own cases by understanding the details of case writing process.

For Whom

The program is tailor-made for the Undergraduate and selected Postgraduate Professors, Deans, Directors, Principals & HODs who would like to adopt the case method of teaching and to bridge the gaps concerned to the industry expectations. It will help the academicians to prepare the students with industry focus.

Batch Size

As the programme is highly interactive and collaborative among the participants and accordingly the batch size is restricted to maximum 30 participants only in each specialisation areas. > Finance, >Marketing, >HR & OB, >Business Analytics, >Operations and Technology

Programme Content

The programme consists of the following modules

Functional Area wise case method workshop along with the participants by senior mentors:-

Case writing and publishing.
Developing case-based research skills.

Certification

AIMS-AIMA Bizlab-ICRC-FIREBIRD will jointly provide the Certificate of Participation to all the participants who have full-day attendance at FDP.

Best Participant Awards

The Best Participant Award will be rewarded to three Best Participants in all five specialisations duly signed by President-AIMS, Director-AIMA Bizlab, Director-ICRC & Director-Firebird.

AIMS-AIMA Bizlab - ICRC-FIREBIRD Edu Excellence Award

The Edu Excellence Awards is an event that would like to recognize and celebrate the outstanding performance and contribution of Principals, HODs, Professors of degree and selected PG colleges. The selection of the awardees will be based on innovation in pedagogy, Research & Publications, Best practices during their service period and contribution to working institutional development in various areas.

The Edu Excellence Award’s guest list is an impressive collection of – chief executives, Directors, Deans, and Board members of reputed academic institutions.

Process - Edu Excellence Award

The applications are invited from Principals/HODs and Professors of various academic verticals to extensively evaluate their impact on the teaching – learning process.
The deserving academicians shall apply for the prestigious award by filling the google form.
The received applications will be evaluated by the expert panel. The judging process has been relevantly designed to ensure each entry is measured against its ability to demonstrate how the applicants delivered quality education for the academic community.
The selected awardees will be invited to the Edu Excellence Award function at the Firebird campus on 27th January 2023.

Firebird Industry - Edu Excellence Award

Firebird Institute of Research in Management is the only management institute in India, which started with the objective of providing industry ready students on day one of graduation, and operates with a 70-30 model framework that has brought Action Learning Program (ALP) into the curriculum. In this process, the contribution from our industry partners take a lead role in moulding the students as industry ready talents by providing opportunity for hands on experience through their mentorship.
