As a part of the Expert Talk series, Mr. Satish Tampi delivered an exciting talk on March 29, 2023. The eminent speaker is a senior leadership professional with a background spanning over three decades across India and the Middle East. He is a qualified engineer and PGDM from IIM-Ahmadabad with a proven track record in people management, process and change management, information technology business development and project implementation, operations, business development, sales, marketing, and product management. He is a proactive professional with the ability to communicate at all levels and adapt to people. He is also well trained in technology solutions in the US, UK, and Germany.

He spoke on the topic ‘Retail Management,” highlighting various key parameters like the empowerment of the retailer in creating trust among the consumers, how brand itself becomes an influential factor in purchase decisions, and how e-commerce has made us realise the importance of technology and facilitate or be a driver to streamline the consumer’s decision-making process. The session included storytelling with a number of real-time examples. He emphasised that the method of buying and the method of not buying are driven by convenience. He also highlighted why technology is important in retailing to reach their customers and how companies like Zomato are providing their services even now. Students were able to realise the importance of technology like augmented reality, AI etc in retail business and management. The interactive session encouraged the students to come up with more questions for interaction.
